Alex is one week old today! And for his one week birthday he was moved into the "step down" room which means that he is one step closer to coming home. He is still in the enclosed bed (see below) to help regulate his body temperature, but he should be able to move into an open bed soon. He has also been drinking a little bit of milk from a bottle. I was able to feed him about 20 ccs of milk this morning - he finished off another 15 ccs through his feeding tube. He is learning the tricky skill of being able to breathe-suck-swallow all at the same time. Because of his good eating, his weight is up a little bit to 4 lbs. 2 oz.
We are really excited by the progress that Alex is making and anticipate that he'll be coming home soon!
