February 23

I just got back from visiting Alex this morning. Great news - he is tolerating his feedings now! They started giving him 5 ccs of milk through the gavage tube in his nose and he's been able to digest that well, so now he's up to 10 ccs per feeding. This morning I got to hold him "kangaroo care" style while he had his feeding. He curled right up and fell asleep. Oh, and the nurse described him as "fiesty" - I love it!

Other stats: his weight is down to 4 lb. 0 oz. and his bilirubin level has gone up so I'm waiting to see if they will start him on lights. At birth his head was 12 in. circumference and his chest was 11 in. They will take new measurements once a week to see how he's grown.
